Back from Japan

Journal Entry: Fri May 23, 2008, 5:27 PM
Well its pretty self explanatory on my news, just from the headline buts once again, Im back. I returned on Sunday of the week and finally got the time to write my journal. First off, Im in Love with Japan, basically its the greatest country I have ever been to, and I just love everything about it. From the millions and millions of vending machines with tea, juice, pop and cigarettes, to the large amounts of people that are on the street everyday. The people are super amazing, met so many different people and quickly got to know them alot better, yet the one thing that was a large inconvenience was that about 95% of the people I got to know spoke very little to no english, so it was quite a challenge for me, mainly becuase the only languages I speak are English and Polish... But then again its great in a way, due to the fact that it pushed me to finally look for a Japanese language school that I will be going to, the date yet unknown but I am 100% totally for it. The streets, scenery and all the monuments, statues, relics and Shrines were just amazing. I really loved the architectural aspect of Japan, although there were modern style buildings, I was still able to distinguish the original Japanese to the modern style. The food there was stellar, always loved japanese food, but now i got to try the original food and recipes from the native country rather than the packaged and different remakes of the food here in Canada. All and all the trip was the best and greatest experience EVER, and now Im looking into someday finding a job thats directly located in Japan and once thats done with, being able to live there. For the past couple of days Ive felt empty like I wasnt at home, ironically I already am home in Canada, but thats how much I miss it.

Anyways I wont be putting up a lot of the photos from my trip because alot of them are more tourist-like types of photos and although they fulfill their purpose they wouldnt quite be considered my deviantart type of photo...but there are photos that turned out well (IMO) so ill be putting a border around them and uploading them here in the next couple of days. Alrighty and thats all, till next time, Oyasuminasai.:D

That's awesome, congrats on getting in! (sorry it took me a little while to get back to you)
I've been pretty good, moved down to Niagara and I start Graphic Design down here in September, so I'm pretty stoked for that. And then I'm going for Animation! So hopefully everything goes over well! I really need to update my gallery on here, though haha. I've been slacking hardcore. I took a look at yours, and you've definitely got some awesome shots!! Keep up the good work!

oh, i know. i'm shooting 400 right now, but once i'm through this 100 feet, i'm switching over to 120mm film and 100 speed so i can really destroy any trace of grain i get.

I shoot digital, these are the first of my photography because i started taking photography more seriously about 6 months ago, before I was into film and effects but thought photos captured more meaning than film. To choose where i shoot I ussually try to find dark alleys, and abandoned places but I also go to a city (toronto) and I try to capture city life. I choose to shoot at 200 ISO I really dont like grain in images so I play more with the aperture and the shutter speed

oh man. your shots focus on the very thing i've been shooting for the last six months. weathered wood, rusted metal, worn-out brick and overcast days.

do you shoot digital? what ISO/ASA do you normally shoot at? how do you normally choose an area to shoot?

i'm intruiged.
